C / C++ programs are not necessarily better or faster,
nor do they necessarily use less resources. I serve
almost 3 million ad impressions monthly using Perl (a
slightly modified version of Webadverts) without a
problem. Valueclick and Teknosurf, both large online
banner ad companies, deliver ads through Perl-based
systems.
Webadverts isn't bad, but it's a little bloated if you
just want to simply show ads (it's made to also be a
banner exchange, which ads overhead).
