My completely unsubstantiated guess is that many
"architects" get stuck in their ways, and may not know
all the "glass vendors" out there. The "architect"
might be more likely to use a search engine in
circumstances where they're being forced to look to
someone other than their usual supplier. An example
might be when they're unhappy with their current
supplier, or their current supplier doesn't have the
particular product that they need. This is the point
where that supplier is most vulnerable. Why waste an
ideal opportunity to get your name in front of that
potential client?

B2B portals are growing like mad. On-line buying by
purchasing agents was up 147% last quarter. As a B2B
vendor, I want to be associated with reputable portals,
and I want to come up in the top ten hits. We're not
there yet, but we're working on it...
