WebTrends is indeed basing the data on the ISP, not the
user. So they are making the assumption (from the way
the stats mare presented as user stats, not ISP stats),
that most users are using local ISPs or local pops to a
national ISP to connect to the Internet. Anyone have
any idea how true this is? Perhaps the way to guess
would be to subtract all the national providers -
Earthlink, AOL, WorldNet, etc - and assume the rest are
more accurate geographical data. For now at least,
I've learned just ignore VA on all the reports. Sorry,
Virginia.
Anyone have real stats on what ISPs or types of ISPs
are being used?
