As a magazine publisher (when I'm not building Web
publishing sites and software :-), I'd say that it's
well worth doing, particularly if you have a
reasonably clearly defined target readership. Don't
forget to have a big splash in your magazine and your
print material too so that people know you've
relaunched.

It shows that you appreciate the Web is an
ever-developing community and there is no shame in
letting people know you've improved your site and
services (assuming you haven't fallen into the daaark
side of bad navigation and flash-type stuff and let it
get in the way of your content :-)

One of our TurboPress clients (an international energy
magazine) did a great ad advertising their site
revamp. We used TurboPress to support their huge
archive of back issues and data, and they ran a page
ad announcing "The Full Monthly" ... (if you've seen
the British film, you'll get the joke :-)

If you've been collecting the emails of your online
subscribers/viewers, send them a (short!) announcement
to let them know you've appreciated their feedback and
responded with a site upgrade. Never hurts to make
people appreciated.

I've covered some of this sort of stuff, plus a lot
more on what online periodicals should really be
providing in a free white paper which you can download
off the Turbopress site at
http://TurboPress.com/download.htm. It's the one titled
"Your Online Publication". Hope it provides you with
some useful ideas for the next upgrade! :-)

I've been trialling a number at the moment for
TurboPress itself. So far I think I like digitalworks
best -- they're quick and clean to deal with, you know
what you're getting, their after-release support is
very good and their prices are reasonable.

Best of luck with it,
Vicki Hyde
