Dear Listees,

Thank you for all your responses, online and off, to my
question about making a transition from ClickTrade to a
new affiliate program. I thought some of you would be
interested in the solution we used.

When I initially sent the question, ClickTrade had not
yet announced the discontinuation of their
pay-per-click program. As you can imagine, we were
even more upset about the short notice we received from
ClickTrade. I had heard good reviews about Commission
Junction, so we immediately called them. I am in no
way affiliated with Commission Junction, but I have to
say that they have excellent customer service. This is
evident with your first phone call, because unlike
ClickTrade, a real person actually answers the phone.

To make the transition as easy as possible, we have
decided to create a temporary pay-per-lead account with
ClickTrade to hang onto any affiliates that do not wish
to leave. We sent an e-mail to all our ClickTrade
affiliates notifying them of our program changes. To
further convince affiliates to switch to CJ, we
established a pay-per-click and pay-per-lead. In other
words, each CJ affiliate gets X amount for each
click-through and then another X amount for each lead.

As a side note, CJ allows you to set up a branded
sign-up page so that affiliates can sign-up directly
from your web page. For each affiliate you bring in,
CJ credits you one dollar. With our 1500 affiliates,
even if only 1/3 switch, we will be credited $500.
CJ's commission rate is also 10% lower than ClickTrade.

So far, we have heard positive feedback from our
affiliates about the transition. We have acquired over
500 affiliates with CJ already, so in no time at all,
we should be able to completely discontinue our
ClickTrade account with minimal loss of traffic.

Thanks again,

Lori Faunce
