Re: Is Fogdog's email marketing Wrong?
Smallbiztechnology.com has a similar system and it is
working very well!
FogDog's error is that they are taking the referred
customers's email and then contacting them directly
with a FogDog message using an email address of the
one who referred them's. I don't like it either.
However, Mark, what you may want to suggest to them is
that they do what I've done with my "tell-a-friend"
tool http://www.smallbiztechnology.com/tellafriend.htm
here, visitors to my site put in "their own message",
their email address and who they want to send the
email to - no intervention from me, I'm just the
conduit of communication.
At the end of THEIR personal message I put the site URL
and a tag line or something.
Suggest this option to FogDog. This leaves between two
people that know each other and FogDog's does not have
to be put in this "gray" line of spamming or not.
Let me know how it works out.
PS - I BCC this to myself and can still see what's
going on and it is working nicely
