I agree that online marketing isn't rocket science,
however it does take an immense amount of time, to keep
your skills sharp there is an almost constant learning
curve. I read *constantly*, take courses, go to
seminars and conferences...it never ends. The most time
consuming is 'gorilla marketing', which involves a lot
of nosing around the internet, e-mailing, posting to
newsgroups and discussion lists, etc... Online
marketing is not like other jobs where you learn your
skill and ride on it, you have to be AHEAD of it all of
the time. So, my point is that unless you have 20-30
hours of your time a week to dedicate to online
marketing, outsource it. You will never, no matter how
much you learn, be able to as good of a job as someone
who's time is fully dedicated to your site.
