Is it SPAM if...

Is it spam to verify on-line orders with a quick reply
to one's e-mail? I do this for every order of our
small company (have not justified the need for auto
repliers yet) so I copy and paste a main body of the
message and then personalize it a bit with special
directly relevent info.

I am not advertising other resoures/products from our
site, however, I do, at times, mention that there are
related products at another link on our site. So I
guess I am marketing without their permission.

It's usually short and sweet but I worry that it might
be annoying instead of helpful to some people who don't
think like I do (I find this hard to believe--but it
happens :) )

Thoughts?
