marketing strategy

Hi Everyone:

I am Diana Swenson. I own a small training business
that has mainly focused on providing training to
government agencies, but I am now trying to expand also
to the private sector.

I've had a website (http://www.jerhong.com) for three
years. It is not getting much attention at all. I
have links to several large training websites, but I am
not sure it is doing me much good.

When I first started the business I used to do a lot of
bulk mail and that brought me a certain amount of
attention. It was enough to be justify keeping the
bulk mail going.

Unfortunately, several factors now necessitate my
change of methods:

a. I underwent a medical crisis that basically kept
me out of commission for a year. Now I no longer have
the financial resources to continue with the bulk
mailing. And because I had to cancel one full year of
work, my company got the reputation of not being able
to run its classes.

b. I am also finding that some Federal agencies are no
longer making their mailing addresses available in
their telephone directory, which makes it impossible
for me to develop a mailing list.

c. To top it off, some Federal agencies are now
refusing to distribute bulk mail to their employees,
even when it comes in through the US Post Office.

So my website is now more critical than ever. I see
from the statistics that within the last three years
some 6,000 people went to my home page.

But only about 1,500 went elsewhere on that website. My
questions are:

* What can I do to attract more people to the site?
* What are some internet marketing strategies that you
   think I should use?
* How can I better reach some governmental agencies and
   their employees?
* How do I go about attracting non-governmental agencies
   such as corporate businesses?

Thank you.
