I'd like to breafly reply to Diana Swenson's posting.
Your message really impressed me, mainly for one
reason: you're the first netentrepenaur I've ever heard
who has the courage to face reality and to tell things
how they are. Our experience as web developers tells us
that failure is always on the way and that we must
accept that the original wish that even with few money
or not at all you could run a successful web site is no
longer realistic. Anyway I think you can do better only
if you try to concentrate your efforts on the only
proven strategies to increase the number of access to
your site. First of all you talked about web marketing
but you never mentioned the most important souce of
hits: SEARCH ENGINES. Start building gateway pages and
spend some time to track the results. You must be very
pacient, but in the end, I can assure you, the results
are quite satisfactory! Your poor results (2000 hits a
year is really nothing. I run a small site and with a
budget of 0$ I get 1500 unique visitors a week.) are
possibly caused by your lack of exposure on the main
search engines. Then, considering the specificity of
your businnes (yours is a niche market) I suggest you
not invest in banner advertising and to go on with
cross links. In the end, I've visited your site and I
must tell you it really didn't impressed me. You say
your visitors immediatly leave your home page. Well,
what are you waiting for? you should rethink your
approach to internet communication! Start visiting your
competitor's sites and get some advice by their work.
Please, forgive my english.
I'd like to tell you more but time is a tirran. Let me
know if I can help you any further and good luck!
