Selling Banner Ads

Can anyone share some insight (or give some good
advice) on the most effective ways to sell advertising
space for a highly targeted Web site. I am new to this
game and am currently putting together a plan to sell
advertising for my Web site and I need a little
assistance. Should I be looking at Double Click and
similar services that offer to send advertisers my way
for a percentage, should I have a sales team targeting
companies that would be most likely to target the
audience my Web site is catered to, or should I be
working with ad agencies and convince their media
buyers that my site is best for targeting a certain
audience? I am just having some trouble figuring out
what the best route is to get started. If anyone can
drop some knowledge on this subject I would be most
appreciated. Thanks in advance.
