Hello Patricia
Everything depends on circumstances :-) It would help
if we knew your field and whom you want to target.
There are always pros and cons - two examples:
+ www.matinee.co.uk (my favourite flash site) makes
graphical presentations so they have to sell themselves
through it and show that they can do it. Their clients
are probably rather big companies who can afford
themselves more than a modem.
- www.astri.ee (in Estonia) it's a site of a small
chain of food stores. Sometimes I have to stand in line
in a shop, why should I do it also on their website
(they don't even have the second opportunity not to use
Flash). Their average client should be person in middle
age, who, in the case if the computer doesn't have
appropriate plugin, wouldn't (or even can't) download
it.
Also, if your want to target young people and the site
with flash is cool, they won't mind the extra time for
downloading - especially in US (pure assumption that
you're from USA) where local calls (esp data
communication) are free of charge usually
just my 2 cents...
