Click count is never an accurate measure of visitors to
a site, anyway. There's always about a 10% bail-out
rate between users clicking a banner and landing on the
page it points to. What you need is to count visitors
to the landing page. This can only be done client
side. Either you read your logs for referring URLs
specific to an ad campaign (which still isn't accurate,
because referring URLs just demonstrate traffic
originators), unique linking URLs for each banner and
placement which can in turn be read in your log files,
or serving your campaign through a 3rd party ad server
that can handle tagging your landing page with a 1x1
pixel that "reports back" to the server where and
through what creative a visitor came from and whether
or not they landed on the page you are pointing them
to.
