please check Danny Sullivan's article on "Search
Engines And Frames":

As you know, submitting to search engines is only one
part of internet marketing. You can also submit your
site/the sites of your customers to yellow pages sites,
regional portals and directories or vortals that deal
with the same topics as your sites do. You can try to
exchange links and banners with related sites and much
more. If you want to get visitors to your site, you
should try them all. Our new metaguide alba36.com
gives you easy access to a lot of these important sites,
including general search engines from around the
globe. The smaller, subject- specific portals and
directories do not spider your pages so you don't need
to work on your frames for them. But at any rate you
shouldn't be too lazy to include meta-tags.
