We in the UK use the same search engines that are in
use in the US, but there are often UK versions of
these which have their own databases, or which
interrogate the UK database first before showing the
international results.

Examples of UK search engines are www.altavista.co.uk,
www.yahoo.co.uk, www.lycos.co.uk. You can often spot
references to other versions of a search engine
somewhere on the home page. We always submit to
appropriate multiple versions of search engines when
promoting our clients' sites.

As regards which countries are most wired, the UK,
Germany and Japan must be high up there on the
rankings.
