Vertical portals

One of our clients is interested in converting their
Web site to a vertical portal servicing their industry.
This would probably be done by licensing content from
other providers. The specific content they're
considering includes search, news, shopping, an opinion
poll, and instant messaging. Can anyone direct me as to
where to find content providers for these items? Thanks
