I too would be very interested in channel management
discussions. Although 1:1 marketing has gotten great
conceptual buzz, it has a lot of problems when it
comes to real-life implementation. For example, it
doesn't address the fact that most large companies
sell indirectly through channels such as retailers and
distributors. These channels generally guard customer
information like family jewels. An emerging area that
is attempting to address channel issues is called
Partner Relationship Management (PRM). It shares some
of the objectives and capabilities of CRM, but is more
strategic for companies like Goodyear, Maytag and
others who depend on dealer networks and other
channels.
