High-Tech Ads

Hi Everyone,

I am a firm believer that print advertising is an
essential part of any good Internet Advertising
campaign, but am quite aware of the difficulties of
tracking print ad results (or getting the surfer to
enter the entire URL if you try to direct them beyond
your homepage).

I recently ran across an article about free software
released by Digimarc that "bridges the old and the new,
allowing readers of Wired magazine's July issue to hold
up ads to a Web camera that will "read" the ad and open
up the advertisers' Web site".
ads_unite_print_web_w orlds_1.htmlTuesday)

Is this a realistic and possible solution? These new
"high tech" ad types seem fool-proof. How hard could it
be to point an ad at your WebCam. Then again, how many
people have WebCams and know how to use them? I still
can't get some of my friends and family to realize
there's more to the Internet than email and AOL chats.

Curious to know what you all think,

Lisa Melvin (mailto:lisam_at_webadvantage.net)
