Hi Charlie,
I once tried surfing with my cookies off and it was a
nightmare. Every single page I visited alerted me
several times with cookie warnings. It was quite
annoying. Without cookies, there isn't much you can do
on the net. You can't, for example, check your hotmail
or yahoo mail without cookies. You can't play online
games (like MSN gaming zone) and you can't register for
certain services (like javascripts.com, etc). So even
if someone disables their cookies, they will surely
enable them once they start surfing around. Thats good
news for advertisers... for now.
There are several 'Cookie Washers' on the market that
delete cookies, which may pose a problem to advertisers
down the road. I don't recall where I read a report on
this, but there was a lot of noise going on a few
months back about the whole cookie issue (related to
advertisers). I'll browse my files and see what I can
come up with. There are definitely plenty of reports on
this matter.
Adios!
