Gordon,
Your reply is more than a little harsh.
While I don't know the nature of Jeanne's business, I
do know that in our business, we are presently
fulfilling book orders for our classes directly from
our "brick and mortar" inventory. In some cases we
might want to consider having third-party fulfillment.
If we ever chose to do so, having a tracking mechanism
in place would be a good thing, and I appreciate the
constructive answers to this thread.
As for e-commerce being a house of cards, while I would
not choose the same words, I do think that some people
think it is a get rich quick scheme. Just because you
build it, the people will not necessarily come. And
making money, long term, off the web or any other way
requires solid business strategies and execution. Just
by offering visitors the opportunity to purchase
something does not mean they will, especially if it is
not what they are salivating for during their visit to
your site.
