Dave,
Good question.
I have been publishing a clean email joke list for
about 16 months and have heard this discussed before so
I thought I would chime in.
I suggest using multiple list hosts if you are going to
use a free system. That way the members of each list
host community such as eGroups.com or Topica.com can
find your list. The problem will be what sign up form
to put on your site, unless you wanted to put both. I
would choose one so you can see how well that list does
compared to the other list. You will also have to
create a template for each service, but that is a one
time duplication. After that, you are ready to move
forward with the same content in each list.
When speaking of creating more than one list for the
same group, I hear about people using different lists
for people on AOL because of the formatting
difficulties that result from AOL coding the email
program differently than Hotmail and most other
Web-Based email programs.
Your concept of directing your subscribers to a website
with the graphics is the wise path as many email
programs can not receive messages over 25K. I
subscribe to several newsletters that operate this way.
I hope this helps!
