Peter,
As I percieve things, your site is dedicated to 25% of
the American Population, the NON-TARGETED-YET-RELATED
populace will definately be a much larger figure. I
think your site needs to implement Niche marketing
focussed towards the relevant section. It will not make
sense for a person (leave aside Hypochondriacs) who is
not afflicted with the ailment to visit this site.
I feel,You should completely focus on getting
associated with all the health related and similarly
focussed websites and real world groups like hospitals,
common groups, events etc. Thereby, utilizing the true
power of niche marketing.
Then you might also want to include the " inform a
friend" or " mail this page to a friend". This again
will give you great coverage, as technically, most of
the people afflicted by a particular ailment know lots
of people who suffer from the same and many of these
might not be visitng your site.
A good search engine ranking is a must, please look at
the domain name relevancy, meta tags, presence of the
key words on the top part of the webpage and relevant
content..and lots of experimentation. This will give
you a better ranking.
Then, you might want to think, whether you want to be a
Yahoo! the entire internet of the Yahoo! of the "how to
get a test for genital herpes" and other ailments ??!!
