Press Release & Publicity Tips?
Hello,
I've read this list for quite awhile now, but this is
my first question. I just completed a redesign of my
website, http://www.LessonPlansPage.com. It's a large
site with a good amount of traffic, but it's all run
by one person - me! Needless to say, I'm not
knowledgeable in everything, and I've never written a
press release.
Anyway, how would I go about creating a Press Release
about the new design and distributing it to magazines
and such? Any tips on designing the press release?
Are there any links that would be helpful?
Next, how do I find out who to send the press release
to? I can think of a few magazines, etc. off the top
of my head, but I'd like to send it to more than just
a few places... The site is a collection of lesson
plans for teachers to use, so teachers are the target
demographic. So, how can I find a collection of
education-related companies to send my press release
to?
Last question - is a complete redesign / revamp of a
site significant enough for distributing a Press
Release? I've never distributed a Press Release or
anything else on the site (although it has been around
since 1996), so could this be more like a Press
Release for the site's existence? Thanks in advance
for all your help!
Take care,
Kyle Yamnitz
