Congratulations, Mike on getting your site listed with
such good response. To timing and luck, I would like to
add that some analysis helps.
We very seldom submit a site that is not listed by
Yahoo in a timely manner (without the $199 fee). When
we don't hear back from them within a few weeks we take
a look at other sites in the category we want to be
listed in to see if anything seems out of line with our
submission.
This happened last spring with a client who provides
after market parts for heavy equipment. We had named
the brands of the parts provided in the description.
When we looked at the listings in our chosen category,
we noticed that none of the other listings included
part brand names, so we removed brand names from our
description and received acceptance within a week.
I can't think of a time that we have had a problem
getting timely listing when we could not determine a
rationale by applying a little dispassionate analysis.
So Yahoo for Yahoo! They are on top because they are
very good at what they do.
