I assume by this question that you are asking whether
it is worth spending the time optimising your web site
by the use of keywords within the body of the site and
in the meta tags.
If so, this type of work is vital if you are going to
stand any chance of a top 30 ranking on a search
engine. It is my experience that most site owners
simply do not bother. Whilst that remains the case, you
could be up there on top of the search engines whilst
they have to pay people to advertise their URLs either
online or offline.
Search engines are usually free and are the most common
method by which people will find your site. Why not
take advantage and optimise your site so that yours is
high on the search engines and above all of your
competitors?
But, you must get it right. The title, meta tags and
wording within the site are all crucial. You must also
get the layout correct. Anyone with a framed site
could have a poor chance of a good search engine
ranking if your site designers have not stuck in a
fully populated 'noframes' section (have a look at
your source code and see what it says between
'noframes' and '/noframes'. I wish I had a penny for
every framed site that had a 'noframes' section which
reads 'your browser does not support frames'. I'd be
a rich man.).
We get sites referred to us for appraisal by web
designers, but have not found a site yet that does not
need some changes to the keywords to improve its
chances of higher rankings. Keywords are important but
they are only part of the formula to good search
engine rankings.
