I have found that keywords AND links I have on the
pages at my site (www.chistell.com) quite an impact on
the visitors my site pulls in. I also notice that my
message board pulls in a good share of my site's
overall traffic.

I would use a combination of keywords and links (to
sites similar to yours). Working together, they can
pull in a good amount of traffic. Word-of-mouth also
remains a top way to wave traffic over to your neck of
the woods.
