Sports card site Ad revenue question

Hello,

My name is Darcy Elliott and I'm new to this list. I'm
hoping some of you wise advertising people could offer
some insights/suggestions for my site. I've been
trying to create some ad revenue for the past couple of
months and although I've had some success I'm now
ready for suggestions!

My site is www.sportscardfun.com and is a site built
exclusively to help people trade sports cards online.
The users are passionate sports fans and sports card
traders.

Some General Information:
1. The site is 11 Months old and has experienced steady
   growth since its launch.
2. Registered users: 1000 (2,300 users are registered
on our listserver trading board which I hope to gain
control over ad content in the near future)
3. Monthly Page views: 30,000
4. Average Visit Length in Minutes:

Demographics:
(gathered this information via a voluntary survey at
registration)
Adults 90%
Kids (8-17) 10%
Male 93% Female 7%
Average Age: 34
Average Household Income: $61,546

My strategy:
To date I have contacted (via email) all of the card
manufacturers and card supply companies I can find.
I've also been contacting sports retailers,
publications, and community sites. I also buy every
sports magazine out there to see who's buying ads...I
do the same thing on sports sites. When I see someone
advertising on a site I'll contact them to see if
they'd be interested in my site. Out of 150 different
companies I've contacted I've received about a 10%
response of which I've closed 1...but that one felt
good!!

My Goal:
Generate enough revenue off of the ads placed on the
site to purchase lyris (listserver). Once I have my
own listserver I will have access to the 1 Million
email messages the group generates per month to then
also offer to prospective vendors. I'd also like to
make a little money at this now full time venture!

The Question:
What would you do if you were me? I'm considering going
to a media buyer like doubleclick but I'm also
prepared to keep doing what I've been doing. I'm not
sure that I'd make much more monthly income going with
an agency since they don't seem to pay much. Is my
return rate of 1 closed deal too low to justify my
current strategy?

At this point I'm open to any an all suggestions.

Thanks for your time.
