JP Suave asked about how to promote his sagging
affiliate program. As an affiliate marketing consultant
and partner with Commission Junction
<http://AffiliateAdvisor.cj.com> I get this question
every day.
While the first instinct is to look externally
(directories, promotion, etc.) it is usually best to
start by looking at your own site and program. If your
affiliates are losing interest in promoting your
program there is usually one key reason:
Your site isn't earning them enough to motivate them to
continue.
There are two main causes of this.
1. Lack of conversion (visitors aren't signing up)
2. Your commission rate is too low
After looking at your site and commission I would
suspect you are failing on both levels. Your prizes are
smaller than most contest sites and your commissions
are at the low end of the scale for contest
registrations.
That being the case I would strongly recommend you
increase your commissions and improve the attraction of
your prizes if you really want to motivate quality
affiliates. There are so many sites in the contest
niche that low end offers tend to be ignored.
FYI, when you start as a merchant with CJ they
automatically send a notice to all the affiliate
program directories so they should be aware of your
program. You can do a search for them and check, but I
think work on your offering should be done first.
Hope that helps. Good luck.
