In response to are the newspapers are doomed post, we
came up with a similar question at my agency. I was
looking for articles trying to justify print media as
part of an online campaign. Most of the research I
found is that newspapers and print are still a great
vehicle for reaching a wide variety of people. My
personal thoughts are that people still want something
they can touch and feel in their hands. Like books,
newspapers create a "real" experience of interacting
with a book that being online will never able to
duplicate. I definitely think newspapers will decline
in their readership and users on the net will increase.
However, for people who commute on a train or bus or
carpool, they will probably not access their laptop for
headlines, but rahter read the newspaper. I think
people often forget that people sometimes tire of being
in front of a computer all day long and relish a
different medium like print.
