Good for you in setting up a newsletter. The easiest
and cheapest (fee) way to do this is via Onelist.com
(I used to use Listbot, but prefer Onelist).
Once you get your list set up, all you have to do is
email the list (yourlistname_at_onelist.com) from your
email program and recipients get your newsletter.
Members can subscribe, and un-subscribe with no user
intervention. For now I've been manually adding users
though, as I don't wan to put too much of a barrier to
subscribing to users. All they have to do is use a form
I have set up on my Web site, which will email me
their address.Users can also email
yourlistname-subscribe(or unsubscribe)@onelist.com if
they wish, but a form is much easier.
