Is 50% commission too much to offer?
My company is about to launch some advertising
specialties line of product based on software
productivity tools. We're going to offer some
customized and cobranded software products through
affiliate network and were thinking about 50/50 revenue
split with our affiliates...
Actually, since we will hand pick our affiliates, maybe
I should rather call them "partners".
Anyway, while we expect 50/50 split to be attractive,
we are also worried that it may backfire because it may
seem to be too good to be truth... Thus maybe raising
some suspicion?
Any comments?
Our line of products include customized software
starting at $150-300 for one version and $2.000-10.000
for another.
While the first version will be marketed to small
business owners, the more expensive solution will be
mostly for mid-large companies, most likely some OEM
integrators.
We also plan to offer light, personal version to OEM
partners free of charge and would actually pay them 50%
commission on upgrade sales generated from their
distribution.
My other question is, how to find partners that would
serve us best? I am not sure that applying as some
BeFree or Commission Junction merchant would bring us
wanted results?
Anybody had some experience with marketing software or
promotional gifts (advertising specialties based on
software)?
