Re: Newspapers are doomed?

Hi All,

Reading through this thread and the different opinions
has been great. I wanted to bring attention to
something that I have discovered lately. I'm sure
everyone in the US has seen the regional Auto Trader
newspaper type publication that is full of cars for
sale. Well in my recent search for a new or used car I
picked one up at the store. Maybe because I work online
the url for their online counterpart
http://www.traderonline.com jumped out at me. I thought
to myself "The Auto Trader is online? Awesome!"

This site is something to behold. Not only can I search
classified ads (some with pictures) for cars in my area
but also the surrounding areas which are not covered in
my store bought regional version. Talk about a dream
come true for a targeted audience (I'll only buy a VW,
no exceptions). I almost feel ridiculous being so
excited by a car web site. I guess the point of the
story is that I actually went to one site that offered
me what I needed, I loved it and now I'm talking about
it. It was regional and nationwide. It offered more
than just cars (equipment, collectables and so on). I
know now that I would definitely pick up my mouse
before the newspaper in this instance. Newspapers
should take note. Especially larger organizations who
do multiple regional papers.

All the best,
Sam Hendricks
