Tracking traffic and orders

Our company has been a customer with HitBox (
http://www.hitbox.com ) for several months now and
their service has allowed us to keep better track of
our web site traffic. One problem I have with the
service is the small amount of referer information we
get. Less than 5% of the traffic that we receive gets
the referer information logged at HitBox. Is there
anyway to get a better idea of where our traffic is
coming from?

We have also been creating individual redirect pages
for each new form of advertising we do so we can track
the traffic gained as a result of the promotion. I
would like to take this a step further and be able to
track how many visitors from each source of advertising
place an order. Is there a way to do this? Possibly a
utility that I could install on the server?
