News Story Pitching - Call & Blab?
I'm sure many of us have tried to ring up the media and
to movtivate them to do a story on your client or
company. For me, I've simply called key reporters
covering the appropriate beat, with an appropriate
audience, and let them know 1st who my company is (they
never do), & pitch an interesting story lead.
However, there hasn't been any true strategy to it,
just call, pitch my story idea, explain why it's a
great story & how my company/client can assist.
Do any PR, Marcom & Marketing experts out there have
any tales & advice on what truly works when pitching a
story? How about sending a pitch email 1st, then
calling? Or, is calling not effective, since it takes
forever to reach the journalist, & they never listen
unless you're a close contact?
