If you haven't done it yet, one solution may be to
publish white papers on your special area. Many
companies that do that have some sort of registration
form (so they capture a name and address of those
interested in reading the white paper.) Then, publicize
the white paper in press releases as well as sending a
personal email to any reporters in your field you know
who would be interested. Yet another tact: establish
relationships with other companies who sell
noncompeting products to the same market. Link to each
other and look at doing joint marketing in other ways.
Strategic marketing alliances are one of the most
cost-effective methods of advertising for many small
(and not so small) businesses on the web.
