Re: Too much "rich media" pushed to IW Fall 2000 journalists
Well Ramon,
You ask which is more effective: an ascii text file or
a rich media one. Well for me the rich media is more
effective everytime. I receive so many text emails, and
so much spam, that for the most part those
solicitations get axed almost immediately. A rich media
ad always gets my attention. In the first place, no
spam meister is going to spend the time and effort to
create a rich media announcement, so I immediately know
that I'm dealing with a legitimate company and one that
has put a little effort into reaching me. I even
noticed that Michael Tchong began sending out HTML
email this week with video's included. It was great (I
had really gotten to the point where I wasn't reading
his stuff anymore - not that it's not good- I have to
read too much stuff each day - what a pleasure to see
the video for change - and a rest from reading). If
marketers want to reach me - they are much better off
sending rich media. After all Ramon, when was the last
time you saw a black and white television ad.
Technologies change. And I never have any trouble
receiving rich media. (I would suggest upgrade your
memory to 128 megs - you'll probably find everything,
not just rich media, runs a lot better. )
