WebAdverts alternative

I'm new to this list and am looking for an effective
way to quickly serve banners on our site. Currently, we
run WebAdverts to serve 5 banners on each page, and
we're doing about 1M page hits per month. As a cache
busting solution we're using iframes in conjunction
with javascript. (We were using cgi, but it seemed to
really slow things down, with no solution for the
caching problem.)

My problem is this: our pages are now coming up REALLY
SLOW. Traffic is taking a rapid nosedive and I think
some pages are being loaded, then users are clicking
ahead to the next page before all the banners load, so
we lose revenue. On my cable modem it can take 20
seconds to display a page complete with all graphics
and ads. We've tried serving ads from a separate
server, and it has only helped a little. I think
WebAdverts may be the culprit, but I'm not positive.
Does anyone have any suggestions for serving and
tracking banners on a site that's growing quickly?
We're not opposed to spending more money, but have to
watch the bottom line, as we're just now (after 6
years) beginning to attract larger advertisers. We're
open to anything at this point.
