In repsonse to Laura Roman's post, I cannot underscore
enough the point of designing a site where customers
can reach you. As conducting media research is one of
my job activities, it seems that unlike old economy
mediums, some site owners somehow neglect to make
clear, unequivocal means of contacting them. If my
company or my client are going to give you business, it
would seem the least a site designer could do is to
make a very visible "CONTACT US" link on the homepage
displaying with complete contact information including
mail address, email address, phone, fax, and contact
information. Several times, I have needed information
quickly and the only means of contacting the vendor has
been to fill out a form. This leaves me at the mercy
of the webmaster to get back to me in his own sweet
time. Would you tell a long lost friend who did not
know your contact information to fill out a survey and
leave a note at a coffee shop you frequent to get in
touch with you? Probably not. The same rule applies
for web sites. Allow the customer various, obvious
channels of contacting you.
