This is not a security concern and really will have no
effect on your email in general. Only if people look
into detailed headers will they see it came from an
EarthLink account... but it doesn't look
unprofessional. Earthlink provides business services
as well as personal services.

Many emails I receive from companies do not originate
from their servers: Outpost.com, Dell.com, IBM, to
name a few.

Honestly, as far as most hosting services go, SMTP
access is typically NOT included -- they typically
block off SMTP access completely. This is an
important security precaution, as providing hosting
clients with SMTP access typically would mean leaving
outgoing mail servers wide open to abuse, and being
added to the ORBS block list.

I haven't really heard of any ISPs doing this -- except
for the free dial-up ISPs (almost all do block SMTP
access to any mail servers but their own, probably
because of wide abuse).
