Yahoo can be inconsistant, and there have been some
real dustups about their policies regarding subsites
(for a long time, about.com had only one yahoo
listing).

THat's your problem - they are already listing
sitepoint.com. Deemphasizing the sitepoint connection
(ie: linking to it and the sister sites at the bottom
of the page, with a text "a member of the sitepoint
network") would probably help. Spending the $199 to
submit one of the sites so at least you get a
conversation about the situation might be well spent
money.

Once you have the various base sites listed, you can
try and get the tutorials listed as well. One thing
that will make it more likely is if the url doesn't
contain ? characters. A "solid" url conveys the
impression of permanence, and if there is one thing
indexes hate, it's urls that might go "poof" 6 months
from now.

So

http://www.webmasterbase.com/coretutorials/PHP-SQL/
(even if INTERNALLY it remaps to a ? url, as long as
to the browser the url appears solid; on the mac we'd
use a tool like Welcome for this) would be a better
url.

In the meantime, similar work on Open Directory
listings and submitting to Google is the next best
thing.
