I can give you the poor man's answer. A service like
http://www.wordtracker.com/ will tell you if searches
for "toilet seats" (or "cigar wrappers" or whatever)
are even very common. Excite will show you their top
fifty searches. I don't know if there are any sales
databases but I suppose if there is a "toilet seat" or
"cigar wrapper" industry one could look for the Web
site for the industry council (or whatever the
appropriate body is) they may have some blurbs or even
actual data about how many whatevers have been sold
online. Or not.
Of course, many major superstores may offer the
products as part of their catalogues. And then there
is the example of Amazon.Com's lawn furniture
business. Some things, supposedly, don't sell very
well online.
