Data Scraping

Does anyone here have any experience in trying to
prevent or track the scraping of data from your site?

My Web site lists several thousand classified
advertisements and it has been brought to my attention
that other sites are scraping my data and aggregating
it with listings from other sites.

I would like to set up bogus listings to identify when
and by who my listings are being scraped. How many
(what percentage) bogus listings should I use? =

1%, 10%? Should I disguise the listings as real data
or should I make it obvious that they are shills? I
ask this last question because depending on the number
of bogus listings I use, I don't want too many site
visitors to run across bogus listings.

I understand that this practice is common in the
offline direct mail business, but I have been unable to
find any information regarding the use of shills
online.

Thank You,
Lance Leasure
