Kevin,

Here is my advice to you:

1) Go to
http://inventory.go2.com/inventory/Search_Suggestion.jhtml
You can enter a term here that is related to the
market LittleFan.com serves and you will be given a
list of related searches that include your term and
how many times that term was searched last month on
GoTo.com. For a fee (as I recalll its $149) GoTo.com
will give examine your site and suggest a list of 40
key words and phrases that you should bid on. This
might prove helpful because this list should reflect an
awareness of what other sites in your space are doing.

2) To broaden your sense of what terms you should be
using to to http://www.altavista.com/ Once again enter
a term (key word or phrase) that is related to
LittleFan.com's offerings and immediately below where
you entered the search term you will see "related
searches." You can then take these related searches
and plug them back into GoTo.com or plug those related
searches back into altavista to generate more
suggestions, etc.

3) You can also use somebody like
http://www.webtrends.com/ or (if you have more horse
power) someone like http://www.epiphany.com/ to read
the keyword strings in your log file. This will tell
you the search engines and the keywords your visitors
used to find LittleFan.com.

4) You can also subscribe to http://www.wordspot.com/
(316)496-2682. As I recall (I have not talked to them
lately) you can subscribe to something like an
industry keywords newsletter. For $95 dollars a year
they will report on 6 keywords once a week, for $495
they will report on six key terms as often as you like
(I believe at this price point they also allow you to
change your key terms/phrases as often as you like).

5) There are a number of free keyword tools that you
can find on the web. Since they are free they have
limited value. But still they're free so might you
want to take a look in your spare time.

Working on LittleFan's search engine ranking is a good
call. Since search Engines direct the majority of
prospects to online properties, it is important for
you to manage your search engine ranking as a crucial
marketing asset. Search engine optimization is without
question a cost-effective approach to increasing your
traffic. Viral marketing is another "potentially"
cost-effective way to increase your traffic. If you
want to learn more about viral marketing you can take
IMT Strategies' online viral marketing survey
(http://www.imtstrategies.com/forms/ViralMkt_entry.html)
and in return we will send you a free copy of the
completed report!
