Search engine optimisation/traffic /FindWhat

Hi

Firstly, I'd like to say hello - I've just joined the
list. I'm based in the UK and work for AdvertWizard,
which is a new company that makes internet advertising
easy for small and medium sized firms (with less than
1m impressions a month), and for advertisers to reach
these niche sites.

Does anyone have any experience with www.findwhat.com?
We have had an account with them for a couple of weeks
and they actually gave us more traffic than GoTo.com
which surpised me. What surprised me more was that
apparently 30 people typed in my 'booby' keyword -
advertwizard - which I only included on the off-chance
that someone tried to find us directly, not because I
expected traffic because we are a new site, no-one in
the USA has heard of us, and no-one is ever likely to
just type in 'advertwizard' without prior knowledge.
The total cost was only $0.30, but it has made me
wonder whether I can trust the traffic reports FindWhat
offer. Has anyone had a similar experience? What
should I do? I have raised this with them but their
account analysts have not gotten back to me.

I see there has just been a listing on the balance
between bought traffic at pay-for-placement
engines/directories and general search optimisation. I
can't say at this stage which is the best investment
because we have only just started the latter, but I'd
have thought that the best thing would be to try and do
both. We've found bought traffic very cost effective to
date (with one exception -see above), but the traffic
levels are generally not high enough, so we are hoping
to get some more from normal engines by investing
between $1000 and $2000 in optimisation. Try
www.webgravity.co.uk or www.searchengineers.co.uk -
they are both UK firms but they are very reasonably
priced and offer guarantees.
