First, there is probably no such thing as "average"
response rates. Direct mail professionals (my
background) laugh at the "2%" response rates quoted for
direct mail. Your actual response rate will depend
upon lists selected, offer, premium, creative, and
price as the major factors.
On to e-mail marketing: Our firm ONLY deals in opt-ion
marketing. In fact, we ONLY deal in double opt-in
comnfromed subscribers. Some 4th Quarter 2000 Response
Rates - click thru or actual order rates - we saw
included:
- Credit Card Offers - under 1% to 2.8%.
- Free Download Offers - 1% - 6.2%
- Free Non-Download Offers - 1.1% - 12%
- Long Distance Offers - .0025% - 1.5%
As you can see there is a wide range. It really
depends on the creative, list, premiums offered, etc.
Hope this helps!
