Hey Chris:
I have to agree with some of your points and disagree
with others about most Banner Exchanges. We addressed
a number of your concerns when we built ZoneSwap
(http://www.ZoneSwap.com).
We created over 2,000 "zones" for webmasters to decide
precisely what types of sites they want their banners
displayed on. You get to pick a very narrow "zone" for
your site so you only get relevant ads too. Since the
banner traffic is relevant to each "Zone", our
click-through rates have been very good, over 1%. for
most sites, and that includes "bottom of the page"
placements.
With the incredible meltdown in CPMs the ad networks
are paying and 50-95% default, non-paying ads, it makes
sense to start building up quality traffic again
instead of serving default ads.
