Re: Search Engine promotion

How paid search engine (and directory) listing
influences the relevancy of search results became the
focus in the search engine promotion community and it
will stay as a focus for a while.

Basically, there is an equilibrium in this game: if
this paid listing practice has a negative impact on
the quality of their search results, those SEs who
don't ask for paid listing will take the advantage of
this practice and become more popular. But if this is
the case, it might be too late for these SEs to change
their policy back to free listing.

Another situation could be: web site owners will turn
away from search engine promotion to other promotion
channels. We shall remember that search engine
promotion is not only among major search engines but
also against other promotion methods.

Search Engine Analysis (SM) is a new approach to
understand search engine ranking mechanisms. Perhaps,
to check if paid listing is better (or worse) than
unpaid web pages is a good topic for our future
