Mr. Paulino's comments are worth noting. His assessment
of online marketing and the lack of willingness to
innovate and trailblaze are lamentably true.
People are obsessed with the idea that those of us who
support and advocate Rich Media technologies are
determined to turn the Internet into television. This
couldn't be further from the truth. Who in their
right minds would want to duplicate that mediocre,
tired, and often offensive, content? Only the
broadcasters as they watch their revenues slip due to
their lack of imagination and foresight.
I believe that the future lies in the ability to
deliver meaningful messages that engage the visitor
and give her/him the power to make good personal
choices. That's the issue.
Broadband will eventually come to all of us, probably
courtesy of satellites. But we don't have to wait for
broadband to take advantage of Rich Media technologies.
They are available, work well for dial-up users if
processed professionally, and are able to deliver the
message in creative and affordable ways.
