I have to completely disagree with your assessment of
pay per click search engines. I believe that they are
by far the best method of driving traffic for small
businesses. The fallacy is that you have to be ranked
1st or 2nd to receive good traffic to your site. We
provide a service for our clients (all small
businesses) where we decide on their keywords and
phrases (up to 1000), their title, description and bid
price for each. Rarely do we have a client who can
afford top positions. But, the traffic they receive is
substantial and costs them less than $5 per day. The
better part is that we never bid more than is
profitable for them - which varies from client to
client.

I think the problem is that some people are bidding too
high and on not enough terms. The result is that they
pay more than they can make up in profit and receive
less traffic than they could be receiving. Then, they
assume that pay per click is not for people without big
bank accounts. I am suggesting that just the opposite
is true. You can have hundreds and thousands more
visitors to your site per month using a smart pay per
click strategy. It does work. I'd be happy to show
you client stats (without their identity) if you're
interested.

Since we began recommending our pay per click program
to our clients, the interest has been unbelievable. So
have the results. Our clients are happier because
they've got more visitors AND more sales. Plus, the
conversion rate from visitor to customer appears to be
much higher from pay per click search engines.

Pay per click search engines have proven to be the best
advertising method for our small business clients and
has become the first thing we recommend when they're
looking to increase traffic and sales. The only 2
pitfalls that I see are 1. bidding too high and 2. Not
having a specific enough description. The first will
result in spending too much and the second will result
in too many non-qualified click thrus that you'll pay
for.

Sincerely,
Linda Rocco
