Pop-Up Boxes

Hello,

Have been reading your discussion regards the use of
Pop-Up boxes.

I think the general opinion is that they are considered
somewhat irritating.

Just thought I would contribute. I use a pop-up, but
with a slightly different bent.

What I do is use cookies so the user only gets the
message once.

I mention that the system has detected that this is the
users first visit, and go on to welcome the user.
Finally I ask if the user would like to join a free 7
part affirmation course I am running.

I think doing it like this is still imposing, but does
sound like a genuine attempt to welcome the user.

You can see an example at www.affirmware.com.au

Any comments?

Jeff Staniforth
